VNT – BEYOND FEAR AND GUILT

WHY DO BUSINESSMEN AND INTELLECTUALS NEED EACH OTHER?

Intellectual leadership in Bulgaria is in a state of collapse. The people with preferential access to new ideas – the intellectuals, who are obliged to “buy” and transmit them to the people of science, art, politics, and to the person on the street, are not doing so. They do not protect the ideas themselves. And they are obliged, through traditional and social media, to influence the thought process of the average person. The most contagious ideas spread this way.

However, few intellectuals are equal to their mission. Only a handful have not betrayed their principles. Most have either retreated to their ivory towers or have secured the favor of “noble” patrons, selling themselves for a pittance. And they still mechanically repeat that the growth of state power is not a reduction of freedom; that the demands of one group for an undeserved share of another group’s income is not socialism; that the violation of property rights will not affect any other rights. The postmodern abandonment of the communist past is another quiet victory for the left-wing intellectuals, who thus soothe their guilty consciences.

In the field of business, the picture is no less bleak than in the field of ideas. If intellectuals trade in ideas, businessmen materialize scientific discoveries and turn them into material products. Businessmen are the liberators of people from backbreaking labor, hunger, disease, and stagnation. Having fought for economic freedom, they have laid the foundation for political freedom. The free market is a natural consequence of the free mind. However, businessmen underestimated the power of ideas, lost all interest in them, and condemned and even suppressed any reference to moral principles. As Ayn Rand writes in her essay “For the New Intellectual”: “Their public policy has become the appeasement of their greatest enemies, the conciliation with their most pathetic attackers, the attempt to befriend those who want to destroy them, the pouring of money to support left-wing publications and ‘liberal’... WHAT SHOULD WE DO?

There is no more effective channel for spreading ideas than the mass media.

Ideas are the most important and most practical force in human existence. They change the world, not governments. And since power and money are powerless against ideas, those who wield power and possess money do not allow the spread of ideas in society. Intellectuals can trace this channel. Businessmen can dig it.

“The rich with their money, the learned – with their minds.”

In Bulgaria, there is no media that produces journalism and publicism based on morality. That is, on ideas and values. We must create it. It will not be subject to control, because control over the media is possible only through control over morality. And morality is a set of values and ideas. When you don’t have them, you are ready to sell out. Or to give up. Or both.

We must together create a media that is not subject to corruption, corporate interests, political influences, and pressure. Or support an existing one.

VNT AS BNT

Since the end of last year, the newest national television – Visible and Invisible TV (VNT) – has been on the air. This is a new information and analytical channel that performs informational and educational functions neglected by most media formats in Bulgaria, including the public BNT. It integrates its diverse content into a harmonious media product with no analogue in the Bulgarian media space.

The channel also has an interactive HBBTV platform that provides additional opportunities for interaction with viewers. By including them in discussions and giving them the opportunity to ask questions and share opinions, the television creates a loyal and engaged community.

As a product of a US-based company, VNT remains outside the scope of Bulgarian media regulators. This provides the authors and presenters at VNT with a creative freedom unattainable for any other Bulgarian media.

Under the brand “Visible and Invisible”, VNT broadcasts 8 original own productions weekly:

“A Place for Thinking” with Deyan Kyuranov (philosophy),

“Path to Perfection” with Nina Nenova and Nino Ninov (Kabbalah),

“For Ukraine” with Rositsa Genchovska (integration of Ukrainian refugees),

“Beyond the Facades” with Mariana Melnishka and Alexander Gerov (urbanism),

“Boarding” with Vasil Danov (national security),

“Defense from the Inside” with Vladimir Milenski,

“The Balkans” with Evlogi Stanchev,

“Counter-propaganda” with Kalin Manolov (fight against disinformation),

“The Distorted History” with Kancho Kozhuharov (history).

An economic program and a media monitoring program are also in advanced preparation.

In the VNT program, there are also 5 popular shows and podcasts – external productions: “Kontrakomentar” with Asen Genov (daily), “The Alternative” (three times a week), “Crossroad” of the Military Television Channel (three times a week), IPV podcast and podcast “The Superhuman” with Georgi Nenov. In early March 2024, VNT signed a contract with Darik Radio for the broadcasting of the shows in video format from the radio’s daily program... [truncated]

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

At VNT, we are looking for partners who are not afraid to know and, like us, are not ready to give up. Who support our common values, woven into the content of the programs broadcast on VNT.

Our common values can be nothing but Truth and Freedom. Because we are free people. Free people are also moral. Moral people rejoice in the “good that they are,” and that gives energy to the “good that they do.” They present and defend ideas that the “experts” scoff at, but they see these ideas gaining support among the people.

Thus they serve Truth and Freedom. And they acquire the ABILITY TO CHANGE.
